GIU Day 1

Happy Monday people!

As I mentioned in my opening post, this week is about using up your stash of stuff.  You may not be a seasoned crafter like me with a room full of crap.  (Uh, let rephrase that…a room full of precious supplies.)  But, even if you are new to paper crafting/card making, I'm sure you have a supply or tool in your horde that you quite haven't figure out what to make with it.

Today's submission is using those "old school" border punches. Back in the day, (insert old timey music) Fiskars Border punches were a frenzied item any good papercrafter HAD to have!

And we used them for a hot minute until the next "have to have" item came along. Before that were deco scissors. Any seasoned crafter had these in their stash at one point or another.  (I can say, I still have mine tucked away in a drawer somewhere!)

Now, a days it's thin border dies.

Well, just know they basically all do the same thing.  So, I encourage you to use which ever tool you have now and use it differently.  They really do more than just make borders for scrapbook pages!

  1. Just moved so I've been getting rid of stuff I haven't used in the last 2 years. It's been difficult to part with stuff I've spent so much money on, but I'm going to have a much nicer craft room. I've been playing with paper since 1994, so I've collected a lot of stuff. Love your card, look forward to your week as GIU.

    1. That is the hardest part. To sit and play. You can't be a Stampologist if you don't sit and play!

  10. Such a cute card.

I’m a lifelong crafter. I still have craft sets from sears catalog I got at Christmas lol. Yep it’s verging on an organized hoarding.

You’ve inspired me to open the big drawer of punches. I do still use them on shabby chic style cards sometimes at least so that justifies them taking up real estate in the room. The scissors in bucket lol they’re just colorful decoration now.

  12. Love how you used the border punch. I swore that I would use some of my old supplies and tools this year, but in the end I am usually in a hurry so I just go to my old standbys. I will try and use the old ones this Winter when things slow down so that The Squirrel of Judgement is happier, lol.

  14. This is such a cute card, I never think to layer them like you did! BTW I have my scissors hanging around somewhere haha I could never cut straight with them!

    1. Tip... just draw a small line in pencil and cut right on the line. Easy peasy to cut straight! Unless you are a drunk crafter.. then you are on your own. Good luck with that!

  15. Why yes, I have all of these items, too! And I still use both, but the scissors not too much; I never seem to cut a straight line with them! lol Love your pretty card with the rainbow of color (always a fave for me!) and the adorable cake. Looking forward to your week as GIU!
