Happy Monday people!
As I mentioned in my opening post, this week is about using up your stash of stuff. You may not be a seasoned crafter like me with a room full of crap. (Uh, let rephrase that…a room full of precious supplies.) But, even if you are new to paper crafting/card making, I'm sure you have a supply or tool in your horde that you quite haven't figure out what to make with it.
Today's submission is using those "old school" border punches. Back in the day, (insert old timey music) Fiskars Border punches were a frenzied item any good papercrafter HAD to have!
And we used them for a hot minute until the next "have to have" item came along. Before that were deco scissors. Any seasoned crafter had these in their stash at one point or another. (I can say, I still have mine tucked away in a drawer somewhere!)
Now, a days it's thin border dies.
Well, just know they basically all do the same thing. So, I encourage you to use which ever tool you have now and use it differently. They really do more than just make borders for scrapbook pages!
SUPPLIES
- Unity- "....so glad you were born"
- Marty Steward edge punch
- Black & White Baker's twine
- Silver Star Confetti
- Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink
Just moved so I've been getting rid of stuff I haven't used in the last 2 years. It's been difficult to part with stuff I've spent so much money on, but I'm going to have a much nicer craft room. I've been playing with paper since 1994, so I've collected a lot of stuff. Love your card, look forward to your week as GIU.
ReplyDeleteThis one speaks the truth.. get rid of it!
DeleteWonderful card. what fun to use up things in our stash.

DeleteWhat a crafty booger you are! Now I wanna dig to find my crap, er crafting gold, and try this!
ReplyDeletecrap....I like you
DeleteThis is going to be a fun week with your talent and your wit! 😊
ReplyDeleteHope you are well friend!
DeleteHey, you have even more Fiskars border punches than me!! The wave one is cute. Love your rainbow of punched borders and the cake looks delicious. Hugz
ReplyDeleteMy favorite border punch as just died. The Martha Stewart doily edge. My heart mourns.
DeleteGreat idea. Love your bright and cheerful card. It's just darling. Love it and your humor, so fun! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI don't do bright and cheerful well. But, it's a kids' card... so. they are just looking for the money inside anyway! LOL
DeleteCute card! I have so much stuff....Now to sit and make myself play!
ReplyDeleteThat is the hardest part. To sit and play. You can't be a Stampologist if you don't sit and play!
DeleteWhat a lovely card, so Nice to see you using old stuff rather than just new supplies
ReplyDeleteLike I said. There is more cute Unity next week so you gotta use it up to make room!
DeleteI love all the colors on your card!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteSuch a cute card.
ReplyDeleteI’m a lifelong crafter. I still have craft sets from sears catalog I got at Christmas lol. Yep it’s verging on an organized hoarding.
You’ve inspired me to open the big drawer of punches. I do still use them on shabby chic style cards sometimes at least so that justifies them taking up real estate in the room. The scissors in bucket lol they’re just colorful decoration now.
Sears catalog. Girl. That's OLD SCHOOL! Well done!
DeleteYour card is so adorable Annie!!! Thanks for reminding us about using the old tools...my edge punches are quietly weeping in their drawer. The scissors I sometimes remember😁.)
ReplyDeleteBreak them free Dorothy! Break them free!
DeleteLove how you used the border punch. I swore that I would use some of my old supplies and tools this year, but in the end I am usually in a hurry so I just go to my old standbys. I will try and use the old ones this Winter when things slow down so that The Squirrel of Judgement is happier, lol.
ReplyDeleteDenise. I'm so lazy, I just create with the stuff just sitting on my desk. Don't even want to get up and use the new stuff I just put away!
DeleteI love this blog post! Always good to use those items that are collecting dust. Fabulous card!
ReplyDeleteAlways a good idea right?!
DeleteThis is such a cute card, I never think to layer them like you did! BTW I have my scissors hanging around somewhere haha I could never cut straight with them!
ReplyDeleteTip... just draw a small line in pencil and cut right on the line. Easy peasy to cut straight! Unless you are a drunk crafter.. then you are on your own. Good luck with that!
DeleteWhy yes, I have all of these items, too! And I still use both, but the scissors not too much; I never seem to cut a straight line with them! lol Love your pretty card with the rainbow of color (always a fave for me!) and the adorable cake. Looking forward to your week as GIU!
ReplyDeleteBecca. I love all the colors. Just can't seem to execute the rainbow order on a card. But, hey. My scrap cross to bear I guess.
DeleteCute card I have started cleaning and organizing my craft room it’s amazing after almost 15 years the stuff we collect.
ReplyDeleteI've been organizing things these past two weeks. Makes you wonder why you bought it in the first place!
DeleteGreat idea. You're a beautiful genius.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I hate you too!
DeleteThat cardbis so dang cute. I got rid of most of the old punches think I have one or two left.
ReplyDeleteDawn.. did you send them to a craft farm where they could run free??
DeleteThis would make an amazing weekly challenge. I just may try this! I have some old punches and scissors for sure.
ReplyDeleteI Challenge you girl! Show me!
DeleteHa Ha! I think we all have those scissors and punch sets. This is a great way to use the scraps, I may just have to borrow this idea!
ReplyDeleteEveryone does. It's comes in the original crafter's starter set along with micro fine glitter, photo corners, and serendipity squares.
DeleteWhat a great eye to start the week and remind us to use what we have. I am constantly destashing. I keep a box in my craft room and I toss items I there a lot(occasionally I take them back out). I love this card.
ReplyDeleteI have a destash box. Always going back in there! I have a bad case of the "what if I need its"
DeleteI have all the above mentioned items and had to laugh when I read that I am not alone! Such a cute idea! I need to USE those things!!
ReplyDeleteYES- USE THOSE THINGS
DeleteCongrats on being this week's GIU! Great idea with this card!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post, great theme, and cute card! Looking forward to day 2! 😁

DeleteGreat idea to break out some of those older supplies! I've got the punches and the scissors too! Great card! Love the colors and cute cake!
ReplyDeleteUsing the old stuff takes you back to the days right?
DeleteSo colorful birthday card,it's lovely. Ahh...I still have many of those scissors but hardly use them. I'll start using them. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I use the "stamp edge" one all the time.
DeleteWhat a cool idea! I have a few of those border punches & a boatload of the scissors (and I know where they are)! Thanks for the inspiration to use them again!! I love the card!
ReplyDeleteHow is it that everyone has them, but no one uses them?
DeleteWonderful idea! Oh, I picture a birthday cake made with edges! Thanks for the inspiration. I have used edges on my cards...I cut a side short and add to inside with edge sticking out...have to do more of that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we do need to do more of that!
DeleteWhoa! Way to breathe new life into old trends. I really like how you used that border! I have so many of those scissors... >.<
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we can all breath new life into some long forgotten supply we just HAD to have!
DeleteLove your card Annie and I still love border punches. Those scissors not so much! LOL
ReplyDeleteThere is one pair of scissors I love. The others... Yeah. No.
DeleteOh I love the idea you have given to us. I have a whole box of scraps that I need to use somehow and this is awesome. Thank you
ReplyDeleteChallenge yourself next week... ONLY SCRAPS
DeleteI will be checking out all my old boxes of supplies I bought over the years,Love your way of using them with Unity stamps
ReplyDeleteYeah. reinvent.
DeleteCute cute! Thank you for sharing your talents!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me on this Unity journey!
ReplyDeleteThat background is so creative! And pairs beautifully with that stamp!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea of use of items we have tucked away forgotten
ReplyDeleteYes I have the punches and scissors. I still use them but not as often as I too have collected quite a few things. I love your rainbow card and it inspires me to get out those old forgotten tools!
